Found in a scrubby, unkempt walking trail near the intersection of Minnesota Highways 1 & 2.

Carolina grasshopper.
Dissosteira carolina, especially if hindwings were black when it flew...which I'm sure you made note of:-)

Thanks Eric. It figures I would travel 1000 miles from the Carolinas to find a Carolina grasshopper! I don't recall seeing this guy fly, but I'll pay more attention to the wings in the future. If only they'd open them up and sit still to be photographed.
