Robber Fly - Efferia aestuans - female

Robber Fly - Efferia aestuans - Female
Adams County, Pennsylvania, USA
July 27, 2007
Size: 1"
I believe this is a female of the genus Efferia. Can someone give me the species? It doesn't quite look like aestuans.

Thanks

Moved from Efferia aestuans.

Efferia
Beautiful shot. There is one other Nerax group species that might occur in the eastern part of the state near the Appalachians that is Efferia kondratieffi. The ovipostior on the female in that species is less than 4.5 mm long. May be similar otherwise. In the rest of Penn. this can only be E. aestuans.

Robber Fly
Thanks Herschel. Female aestuans it is. Appalachians are about 30 miles west of here.
