Hesperotettix pacificus
Hi, This is actually an adult, you can tell by the orientation of the wings (front wings lying over folded hind wings). This picture looked similar to Campylacantha to me, but that genus is not recorded from so far west. However, I hadn't looked at the second picture, which shows more of the top - not quite so Campylacantha-like there; so, I did some digging into names. Being a female makes it more difficult, but it matches the descriptions of Hesperotettix pacificus, and is from the proper region. In fact, nothing else recorded from the region comes close. I know the genus Hesperotettix well, but not this particular species, even so I'm sure this is it.

Yes, nymph.
No way of positively identifying most nymphs, even to genus. I can say this is in the Acrididae, and that's about all.
