Female Crane Fly, Possibly the same species as the male that I posted a few days ago - Bay Area, California. -

Large, even for a crane fly. Thick body, dark colored around the joints of the legs. It should be mentioned that this beautiful metallic sheen is not apparent when viewed in real life. I'm not sure what to make of this. It seemed to me, to look somewhat dull salmon or orange color that was not completely opaque giving it a pretty drab colored waxy appearance. Perhaps the camera flash is transmitted in the translucent area making it look more solid - Just a guess.
