Ant Reproductive

Ant Reproductive
Richmond Hill, York Region, Ontario, Canada
July 22, 2007
Size: 3 mm
Honestly, I wasn't even looking for ants. I was attempting to push a fallen log over when it suddenly exploded, sending splinters and ants flying everywhere, and exposing a large colony of ants beneath. Lots of reproductives; this was one of them. I think it's in the Formicinae, but I'm unsure. Sorry about the image quality; frass if not useful.
