Grub

Grub
Fort Bragg, Cumberland County, North Carolina, USA
March 19, 2005
Found this one the sidewalk this morning. Anyone know what it is? Do you think I should keep it until it changes? How would I take care of a grub?

Moved
Moved from Scarab Beetles.

Scarabaeioidea:-)
This looks like a very anemic grub of one of the scarabs, stag beetles, or bess beetles. I would not bother with it, as it looks like it might not make it anyway. Plus, no telling what it was feeding on.

GREEN JUNE BEETLE, Cotinus nitida
I think it may be the Green June Beetle, as we have hundreds of them flying around in that area later in the year.
