Waspish - Acanthochalcis nigricans - female

Waspish - Acanthochalcis nigricans - Female
Tucumcari, Quay County, New Mexico, USA
August 8, 1998
Size: 12 mm
I'm trying to ID some old Hymenoptera. I thought maybe this was Symphyta, but the gigantic metafemur and ovipositor didn't match anything in the guide. Closest seemed to be Orussidae but not a great match. I took some details of wing and face in case this will help. The length without ovipositor is 12 mm, the ovipositor is about 8 mm.

Great
Thanks. I always thought Chalcids were tiny little things so I did not even search here. Also my key said if it only had a single metatrochanter then it should not be "parasitica". Live and learn!
