We saw this guy a little after 2:00 pm, on the very damp pathway between the shallow duck ponds, about 200 yards from the Ohio River. He was not glad to see us, held still long enough for a couple of pics, and then scuttled quickly away, burrowing into the soft mud and weeds at the edge of the path. Weather was sunny with scattered clouds, about 72 degrees, steady wind from the southwest. Nearby were willow trees, mixed grasses, cat-tails, and a mix of dried-up wildflowers like aster, goldenrod, ironweed, boneset, seedbox, wingstem, inkberries, purple loosestrife.
