Large Insect - Corydalus cornutus

Large Insect - Corydalus cornutus
North Conway, New Hampshire, USA
July 20, 2007
Size: 4 - 5 inches
My son found this gem clinging to the porch light of the Snowvillage Inn. When it flew, we noticed 2 sets of wings, like a dragon fly. By far the weirdest insect I have ever seen. Does anyone have any idea what this is?

Corydalis?
Eastern or what species?

Dobsonfly female.
This is a female dobsonfly. Think that's scary? You should see the males:-) Perfectly harmless, just startling....
