Short Horned Grasshopper - Melanoplus

Short Horned Grasshopper - Melanoplus
Adams County, Pennsylvania, USA
July 31, 2007
I never dreamed there were so many species of grasshoppers. I'll be seeing them in my sleep. Can someone point me to he correct genus for this one?

Thanks.

Melanoplus
at least it looks that way to me. Nymphs are notoriously difficult to ID, especially to species level. But I know from my own experience that we have quite a few Melanoplus species to choose from. It's a nice looking little fella - great pic.

Grasshopper
Thanks Chad. I'll label it Short Horned and move. So many hoppers.:)
