Mating Mydas Flies - Mydas clavatus - male - female

Mating Mydas Flies - Mydas clavatus - Male Female
Norris City, White County, Illinois, USA
August 2, 2007
These two Mydas Flies are ones that I've been seeing in the same exact area for a month and a half, at least. There is always at least one around a dead tree stump, just sitting. I don't think this is coincidence, so maybe the one I posted from June 21st, July 6th and August 1st are one and the same specimen.

This was the best view I captured of their eyes. Thanks to Ron Hemberger for telling me about this key factor. One of these days I'll have it down and will instinctively take specific shots of the eye area to help study them better.
