Ground Beetle - Harpalus

Ground Beetle - Harpalus
Peyton, El Paso County, Colorado, USA
July 31, 2007
Size: 17 mm
I feel strongly that this is Harpalus herbivagus. Any confirmation?

Harpalus - Pseudoophonus?
Away from my diagnostic resources, I tentatively feel that this Harpaline image does *not* represent Harpalus herbivagus, i.e., "17 mm" is way too large and the pronotal hind angles appear too sharp for that species. If those a truly tiny punctures I see on hind elytral intervals, then you might have genus Harpalus, subgenus Pseudoophonus. The reddish legs also support the latter. Check if I edit my comment later today. In mean time, please scope for dorsal elytral punctures and/or submit more views of pronotum and elytra.

This is the most...
detailed image I took. I blame Fugifilm and their sloooooow shutter speed. Anyway, it was definitely in the 15-17mm range. Sorry, I failed to grab a ruler.
