Typocerus acuticauda - male - female

Typocerus acuticauda - Male Female
Durham County, North Carolina, USA
July 6, 2003
Detail shot of an image posted long ago. I have been going through old photos and improving processing where I could. This shows some details of pronotal hair not visible in the original post.

Typocerus acuticauda acuticauda
This image shows the erect setae of the pronotum that helps distinguish acuticauda from velutinus, which has the pronotal pubescence appressed. The color pattern is also typical for acuticauda - although variable, it rarely has distinct bands except at the very base and apices of the elytra.

thanks--a long journey
These images have kicked around between acuticauda and velutina for quite some time.

An oldie but goodie!
I was just taking a genus at a time and looking for misplaced images and ran across this one. It was nice to see that there were only a few images of acuticauda and that these could be added to them.
