nymph - Eritettix simplex
Aurora Reservoir (39.614552 -104.651584 E5945’), Aurora, Arapahoe County, Colorado, USA
January 31, 2017
Several seen in grassland adjacent trail. Warm afternoon, about 63F. Looks kinda like Orphulella. Sorry for the terrible photograph, but maybe identifiable.

appears to be Eritettix simplex
They overwinter as nymphs, and the pronotum structure and pattern looks right

Moved from Grasshoppers.

thank you
for the ID Brandon. I recognize the pronotum and agree re the pattern.
