We can never keep track of whether

occidentale and semicinctum are currently lumped or currently split. This splitting and lumping is too much for our poor brains!!

We checked Odonata Central

and they don't list occidentale as a separate species. They list four different subspecies of semicinctum which all seem to overlap in many ways. It all seems very confusing to us. We will post a message on the taxonomy forums about how we want to handle the images currently posted to occidentale.
