Half-orange Ichneumon Wasp (wing pattern) - Mesostenus gracilis - male

Half-orange Ichneumon Wasp (wing pattern) - Mesostenus gracilis - Male
Tonopah Desert, Maricopa County, Arizona, USA
June 2, 2015
Size: 9mm
This guy looks like a male Mesostenus gracilis. The wing-vein pattern is fairly good match for the genus. I'm sorry that I didn't light him up better. If confirmed, this will be a first for Arizona, at the genus level.
His antennae each have a flagellum with about 30 segments. (flagellomeres)
