Not Honeybees - but what?
Yes, I agree - clearly not honeybees large or small. They just look a little like a mini honeybee. A few other notes: (1) wings are very small relative to body; (2) relatively long antenae; (3) they do appear to have a stinger; (4) they look like a housefly when they buzz around (same size too); (5) they do not show interest in any of our other flowers except the sunflowers (specialized?); (6) seem to be social but competitive behavior (fighting each other for price pollen spots! is not like any social bee I have seen before (but I am certainly not a specialist so maybe I just don't know)).
