Chrysobothris chrysoela

Chrysobothris chrysoela
Houston, Harris County, Texas, USA
February 12, 2017
A small shiny beetle I saw on a leaeless tree (perhaps a maple?). It was around 7:30pm and the beetle was dark and hard to pick up against the dark background, hence the dorsal view was pretty shoddy. Has eyes like a Cryptocephalus leaf beetle but grabs the twig like a kind of leafhopper. This beetle is entirely new to me. In order to get some better shots, I peeled its twig back but it dropped into the dead grass below and was never seen again. If I see it again I will take it home for some better shots in better conditions.
