Beautiful.
This is a Clearwing Moth of the family Sesiidae. It looks to be a Virginia Creeper Clearwing (Albuna fraxini), in the guide here.

Stephen, there are about 40 images
currently on the base Sesiidae page. Can you ID any of them too?

Well...
To be honest with you, I'm not sure if I'm capable enough to ID the Sesiids (or other large groups, for that matter) with pinpoint accuracy. Some genera (Synanthedon, for example) have very many species while others (like Albuna here ... one that I can tackle!) are represented by few or a single NA species.
I'm always willing to help with ID's if that helps to reduce (if that is even possible, given the rate of influx of images) the guide pages' stockpiles of unidentified images. But, I sense that most of my ID's may have to be passed by an expert ... I don't want to be making mistakes that only create more work for the editors. I'm not an editor myself, so even IF I nail an ID, someone else will have to move the image (some posters aren't in the habit of moving their own images).

Excellent!
Thank you so much, Stephen.
