Seems to fit...
the description of Phidippus cryptus as described in the Revision of this genus. Did you collect this spider? If so, could you take more pictures of it? An image of the entire dorsal side of the abdomen and also the underside of the abdomen would be very helpful.
Also, as Jeff was saying, the specific location that you collected this spider may be helpful. The cryptus is said to be found "on the ground and low vegetation in open areas". If you found this spider in an area like this, it would help confirm that it is this species.

This
is a Phidippus, and a very nice looking one.
Location should help narrow it down to a species ID by myself or another.

well, i'm in edmonton AB and it was found in a landscaping shop (lots of rocks and stuff) that has quite a bit of tall grass around it. the shop is located in a fairly industrial part of the city. Does that help any?
