Common Ringlet, Ssp. Subfusca - Coenonympha tullia
Toolbox Draw, Escudilla Mountain, Apache County, Arizona, USA
July 26, 2007
Habitat is mountain meadow, about 10,000 Ft. (3048m).

Unlike other BugGuide images, this one shows extensive unh spots. Isolated outpost population: first Arizona record for BG.

Thank You
Thanks gentlemen.

Moved
Moved from Common Ringlet.
Deserving to be recognized as a ssp. Common name coined by me reflects type locality

Very nice
I continue to be amazed by the variation in these butterflies. The first several dozen I saw here in Southern California were very drab, though we do have some with an orange cast popping up in later months.

Congrats on the first Arizona post! Keep those butterflies coming, every month they keep coming.
