Looks like a male: check genitalia and use the key (if you don't have the key: I can send).

But I'm thinking it appears much like Philonthus cautus, which is found in the area... thanks, Gary

Many Philonthus look very alike, so very dangerous to say anything just by the looks of it. I'll send you the key so you can identify it properly.
