Filament Bearer (Horned Spanworm Moth larva) - Nematocampa resistaria
Pennington, Mercer County, New Jersey, USA

I haven't seen a caterpillar like this one before. Unfortunately, I didn't pay attention enough to notice what the food plant was (Looks like Blackberry in the photo). Any ideas?

Looks like Nematocampa resistaria

Nematocampa resistaria
Hey, thanks a lot. It really sparked my curiosity when I saw it - I've never seen anything quite like it before. "alder, ash, basswood, birch, blueberry, buckeye, carrot, cherry, chestnut, dogwood, elm, fir, gale, hawthorn, hazelnut, hemlock, hickory, ironwood, larch, maple, mountain ash, New Jersey Tea, oak, spruce, strawberry, sycamore, and willow"

Yeah - that's strange. But i
Yeah - that's strange. But in that case, it sounds like that's our caterpillar. Thanks.
