late evening, fluttering against our cottage window. I collected it in a marguerita glass with a piece of paper slid under it. We released it as soon as I verified I had a good photo.

We call it "Brauner Baer" Bro
We call it "Brauner Baer" Brown Baer (Arctia caja)in Germany. I'm always delighted to see those circumpolar species from my childhood that you Northerners post. Here in Tucson I rarely find anything familiar!

Great Tiger Moth
Arctia caja. A pretty distinctive-looking Tiger Moth. Nice find.
