tribe Platynini: genus Agonum
is my opinion today. Even with specimen in hand, the California carabid fauana can be very challenging taxonomically but in this case we are fortunate to have a comprehensive key to the New World Agonum by James Liebherr (1994). I think that work was reviewed on BugGuide. Jim, if you are not comfortable working with keys, my BugGuide profile does advertise my willingness to accept photo-vouchers for accurate physical determinations in case that is important for your project. Good luck, PWM

Hi Peter
I would like to accept your offer to provide more accurate physical determinations on the carabid specimens that I have posted here on BugGuide. I have read the info on your profile page on preparing specimens to send to you. I have added my email address just above so that we can communicate via email. I want to thank you again for the ID help that you have already provided for my ground beetles here on BugGuide.
