Double-striped Bluet - Enallagma basidens - male

Double-striped Bluet - Enallagma basidens - Male
Burlington, Halton, Ontario, Canada
July 17, 2007
Closeup showing their namesake, the split shoulder stripe.

Found during the Royal Botanical Gardens ode count. I netted this guy by Grindstone Creek right under the huge overpass. Just Bearly inside the most South-Western tip of Halton Region this is the first (and so far only) record of Double-striped Bluet in Halton Region. Exciting.

This is the historic range map for the species (as of 4 years or so ago). The Hamilton and Halton Locations are on the very tip of Lake Ontario, significantly far from the rest of is range.
