March 31, 2017
Road ditch at entrance to the production plots

July 2, 2016: collected galls
October 3, 2016: collected more galls

February, 26, 2017: collected more galls

March 31, 2017: adult emerged from the February collected galls, took photo of galls (Batch rearing by collection date)
I thought ID was easy until I looked in Gagné’s Red Book. There are several inquilines. I don't have a description of the Willow Pinecone Gall Midge so this MAY BE the Pine Cone Gall Midge or it MAY BE one of the inquilines associated with this gall.

April 1, 2017: adult female emerged, a second female emerged
April 5,2017: adult female emerged. Found her dead under paper towel at bottom of rearing jar with a mass of eggs. While removing her & eggs from jar, found 3 spent pupae, 2 still attached to galls.
