Orange Butterfly - Dryadula phaetusa

Orange Butterfly - Dryadula phaetusa
July 23, 2007
This butterfly was at the "Butterfly Rainforest" in Gainesville, FL on the University of Florida Campus.

I do not know if this species is native to North America or not.

lovely shot
Denise, what a strikingly good shot. 8:)

Thank You.
Thank You.

Edit
I changed the state to Unknown and added Florida to the location so it wouldn't get picked up by the automated mapping.

Yes
This is a Banded Orange Helicon, or Dryadula phaetusa. It is found from Brazil to central Mexico, but sometimes makes it up as far as Texas and Kansas, and the southern tip of Florida. That's according to information found on the Butterflies and Moths of North America website.
