Finally, this spot is open after closures due first to fire, then drought, the flooding, and most recently, exploding several citizen-built dams, some dating from the 1930s. This critter - I have no idea what it is - was atop some gently flowing water.

Wow, did I goof up this ID. The wing venation is all wrong for Pteronarcys. I'm guessing the glare off the toes messed up my vision...or something.
