American Bumble Bee - Bombus pensylvanicus - male

American Bumble Bee - Bombus pensylvanicus - Male
Norris City, White County, Illinois, USA
August 10, 2007
Size: Approx. 1 1/4 in. long
This was a fairly long and slender Bee. Much different than what I usually see. This one, however, was so long, slender and segmented-looking that it caught my eye. It is wrestling around with what seems to be the local favorite of almost everything I see, Trifolium pratense - Red Clover.
