Pleeease help me identify this!
Hickman County, Kentucky, USA
April 21, 2017
Size: 1/4 inch
This bug is a copperish-red color. The head is solid black, the thorax is almost a translucent brownish-copper color, and the abdomen is brownish-copper with a black spot running down the middle. It has six legs...two attached to the thorax and four to the abdomen. It only shows up at night and flies toward the can lights and then falls to the floor, furniture, etc. and make a pop when it lands (like it is a hard shell hitting the leather chair, floor, etc). The odd thing is they only show up in the living room at night when we have the lights on...we have lots of windows if that helps! By morning they seem to be lying on the counters, floors, etc. dead. I can't find any picture on the internet that clearly looks like this. We are in Western Kentucky and live on a farm. I can't tell if they are coming from the windows or down through the can lights. Thank you for any help. These are driving me crazy...ha!
