Bristletail

Bristletail
Fort Bragg, Cumberland County, North Carolina, USA
March 24, 2005
As reported by the kids at the sandbox, this bristletail started off gray...but ended up this orange color. (20 minute time lapse)

Scales removed?
Usually I notice scales on these. Maybe they were removed somehow?

my guess
is that the kids were messing with it, and it jumped so much the scales fell off?
