Moved quickly. I'd like to know what the little red spheres are on it (eggs?)

The spheres are mites--parasites, or perhaps just hitching a ride.

Thank you so much for identifying this for me! It was taking me a long time to ID as I've never seen anything like it out of the water. Also, this is my first time using bug guide--what an awesome site. I really appreciate you taking the time to ID.
