Long grey bug with long legs - Ranatra

Long grey bug with long legs - Ranatra
Three Forks, Montana, USA
May 6, 2017
Moved quickly. I'd like to know what the little red spheres are on it (eggs?)

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

The spheres are mites--parasites, or perhaps just hitching a ride.

Welcome to BugGuide!

Ranatra
yep, it's a water scorpion, but apparently temporarily out of the water.

Thank you
Thank you so much for identifying this for me! It was taking me a long time to ID as I've never seen anything like it out of the water. Also, this is my first time using bug guide--what an awesome site. I really appreciate you taking the time to ID.
