large black Darkling Beetle - Alobates pensylvanicus

large black Darkling Beetle - Alobates pensylvanicus
Fort Bragg, NC, Cumberland County, North Carolina, USA
March 25, 2005
Found this single Darkling beetle under a loose piece of bark with about 30 cockroaches. The cockroaches were out of sight within two second and this guy was left behind...didn't even try to run...just played dead.
