Sarcophagid Fly?

Sarcophagid Fly?
Aromas, San Benito County, California, USA
August 15, 2007
Size: about 8mm
The abdomen is not really very well lit in either photograph to tell if the tip is reddish, but it does seem to be a somewhat different color than the remainder of the abdomen. He was on Argyranthemum frutescens in our garden, in live oak/chaparral habitat.

Sarcophagid Fly? Sarcophagid Fly?

Not Sarcophagid, but Calyptratae is a good place for it.
I have one of these, too, and have noticed a ton more posted as just flies.
