Villa lateralis? - Villa - female

Villa lateralis? - Villa - Female
Minto Brown Park, Salem, Marion County, Oregon, USA
August 17, 2007
Size: 20mm approx
Following Ron Hemberger's advice, I checked the guide, looks like Villa lateralis

Moved
Moved from Bee Flies.

That's not odd. It's a bee-youtiful bee fly.
Not sure of genus, but do check Villa.

Bee Fly
wow! That was fast. Thank you. This is great, my 1st photo of a Bee Fly.
I checked the guide; it looks a lot like a female Villa lateralis

Great. I think that's right.
I was looking at V. lateralis earlier and am glad we came to the same place. These guys are often tough to shoot, but some of them are quite beatiful. (Others are quite odd!)

Bee Fly
It was not easy to approach. I had to shoot from a distance.

My experience as well.
Unless you can find them feeding, when they're a bit more settled. And the background's a lot better too.

Villa lateralis
Of course, that dried grass is not the most appealing but, still, I'm happy with what I got.
