USDA wants to know - Monochamus scutellatus - female

USDA wants to know - Monochamus scutellatus - Female
Mt. Washington, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
July 2, 2007
Size: about 19 mm
USDA wants to know, could this be the first North American appearance of the European tree nematode vector Monochamus sut*or or is it just an uncharacteristically yellowed Monochamus scutell*atus? The specimen will be compared against series of both species by one of two authorities the USDA relies on for invasive/exotic species IDs. See discussion under full dorsal view.
