Cactus Long-Horned Beetles Mating - Moneilema - male - female

Cactus Long-Horned Beetles Mating - Moneilema - Male Female
Kirtland AFB, Bernalillo County, New Mexico, USA
July 14, 1997
These beetles were very common on cholla. The female here had her head buried in a cholla fruit munching away.

Cactus Longhorned Beetles
Looks like Cholla Longhorned Beetle, Moneilema gigas, or at least that genus. Supposed to be closely associated with cholla. (1) Six North American species in genus on nearctica .com list. Moved to guide.
