Red Head and mean looking bug! - Stenopelmatus

Red Head and mean looking bug! - Stenopelmatus
Coalville, Utah USA, Summit County, Utah, USA
August 18, 2007
Size: 2 1/2" - 3"
I captured this bug in my garage yesterday night. Sorry about the fuzzy picture - that't the best I could get in a jar.

This thing looks unreal - about 3 inches long! Looks very mean. I've looked all over but cannot find any reference to this giant bug. Please help - my wife is freaking out and wants to know if it is dangerous. I just think it's cool :)

This is a Jerusalem Cricket, which you can learn more about by searching on this site. They are not very dangerous, although like most bugs they will bite you if you are disrespectful.
