Empicoris rubromaculatus - Empicoris

Empicoris rubromaculatus - Empicoris
Santa Monica, Los Angeles County, California, USA
August 16, 2007
Size: 4mm
Found this while cleaning up leaf litter under my deck in the mid morning, and another one later on the shower curtain--probably came in on me. It has the long sucking mouthparts of an assassin bug and extremely long legs, twice as long as the segments visible in this ventral view. The very long legs look more like the Thread legged bug in the guide, but I thought we didn't have them here. The nymph from the shower curtain has a flat, oval-shaped abdomen, not long and thin like this, but I think they must have come from the same spot. I haven't been able to get a clear picture of it yet. Can you identify? Thanks.
