Stylogaster neglecta? - Stylogaster neglecta

Stylogaster neglecta? - Stylogaster neglecta
Wolfskin District, Oglethorpe County, Georgia, USA
August 12, 2007
Size: body length, about 1 cm
I'm guessing Stylogaster neglecta, a thick headed fly, family Conopidae (sometimes placed in Stylogastridae). These were feeding on nectar of Teucrium canadense, American Germander (a mint). They only seem to feed in the early morning cool hours.
