Size: 3+ inches
This photo was taken next to a woman's flip-flop shoe. Taken in afternoon. Beetle is very large, have not seen anything like this in the area. Did not move from the spot in photo until the next morning. Then we did not look for it again. Did not seem aggressive when we touched it with a stick, just moved a little. Would like to know what kind of beetle it is.

Taxonomic change
Note that what we have been calling 'Derobrachus geminatus' has recently been described as D. hovorei (Santos-Silva, 2007, Arquivos de Zoologia, 38:1-94).

The species formerly called 'D. forreri' is the true D. geminatus.

Longhorn beetle
This is one of the Cerambycids in the subfamily prioninae, or tile horned beetles, looks like Derobrachus geminatus
