Fall Webworm - Hyphantria cunea - Hyphantria cunea - 12 miles SE of Ozark, Christian County, Missouri, USA June 18, 2017
The moths femur was yellow. The larger mass of hair covered eggs were on the underside of the leaf. Then it moved on top for a smaller egg mass which it covered with its abdomen. It was alive for another 24 hours, staying on the leaf when it died protecting the eggs. I preserved the fresh eggs and raised the caterpillars on elm leaves.
