Longhorned Beetle - Clytus marginicollis

Longhorned Beetle - Clytus marginicollis
Greenwood County, South Carolina, USA
March 29, 2005
Size: ~15mm
Found this beetle sunning itself on a railing on our front porch. From a distance I thought it was a wasp with the coloration. I spooked it and it disappeared before I could get a better shot.

The closest thing I've found browsing BugGuide is Clytus, but mine seems to have more yellow markings around the edges, and the yellow "hump" line in the middle doesn't look quite like the other BugGuide photos.

Checked Yanega
It's a good match for Clytus marginicollis (1).

Looks good, Yanega and Dillon
Mike Boone asked me to check this with Dillon--good match for plate LIX #3 (1). C. ruricola is plate LIX #5 of Dillon, fig. 119 (plate 11) of Yanega, C. marginicollis is fig. 118,as Troy already mentioned. (2) OK, I think I can recognize these if I ever see them.

I'll look at the other Clytus real quick.
