Spread-winged Damselfly - Lestes - female

Spread-winged Damselfly - Lestes - Female
Lacey (near Olympia), Thurston County, Washington, USA
August 23, 2007
Going over the pics on the site, I think I have this down to Lestes spp. Anybody have a shot at the species (or please correct me if this isn't Lestes). I didn't know until I browsed the site that I should have gotten a good pick of the tip of the tail, so not sure if it's male or female. In the last shot, he/she is cleaning its tail with its back legs.

Closest I can find is L. australis. There are two pics in the guide. One looks like a perfect match, and the other looks completely different. Not to mention that I'm not sure one would find L. australis in Washington state.

Widened end to the abdomen
in picture 3 says ovipositor and consequently - female. Not near our books right now so can only confirm your genus as Lestes. Unable to identify species.
