Moved from Tomarus gibbosus. Finally had a chance to look at the material sent - couple of males, no doubt about ID, very distinctive genitalia - nice addition to guide. Evidently common at Organ Pipe Cactus [pg 63, misspelled genus]. Will try to photograph the tail.

Thanks, I've looked at the different options that you quoted there, and the tibia of the one that I've collected - pretty sure it's Tomarus gibbosus. So I'm moving it.

8 Clypeal apex acute, unidentate .... Oxygrylius Casey 1915
8' Clypeal apex bidentate, truncate, or rounded ... Tomarus, et. al.

This view "seems" [photos sure can be deceptive though] to show the clypeus distinctly pointed, suggesting Oxygrilius - compare below to known Tomarus sp.

You're right about the tibia, but that can sometimes be problematic. Do you have it to verify? In AZ, you also have T. selanderi, will have to pull Cartwright and see if anything can be gleaned from a photo, but it must be quite uncommon though.

I have many specimen of the beetle. Do you want me to mail you one - or I can get literature and collection access at the U oA.
