Sam's Sphinx - Eumorpha pandorus

Sam's Sphinx - Eumorpha pandorus
Fairfield, Wayne County, Illinois, USA
July 8, 2007
Looks like Kenny already beat me to adding an Illinois "data point" for August but this one has a story. My wife and I were shopping at Walmart when she rushed up all in a tither and said, "Come over here. I have something to show you."

Well, what goes through a man's head when a woman says that. "What's she want to buy now!"

But to my surprise she pulled me over to the produce section and there, huddled on the floor next to the grapes was this beautiful baby!

Bless her heart, my wife even stood guard while I rushed out to the car for my camera. It must be love! :)

just found one
in our garden we have just found one in our garden and we wanted to identify it thanks a lot steeve.:)

Wal-Mart - Always Great Selections
I'll have to check out that produce section they have there, Steve - especially with extras like this!

How could they have not seen such a large insect?

Data Point
That was in tribute to you, Steve, since you were coming down to Norris City when I did that.

Ummm.... Did She Buy the Grapes?
:-)

Strange that you should ask!
It just struck me that she moved on to the apples . . . :)
