Toxomerus marginatus
A syrphid aka flower fly aka hover fly. Can you tell if this is the same as your pollen sipper? (The sipper is definitely Toxomerus, but what species?)

They certainly could be the same species. They weren't but a couple of meters apart, though these are different individuals.

 
Good. They are the same species.
Note the pattern on the back and the orange margin encircling it. This means T. marginatus. This is the most common species, I believe. There are only three or four species, so this is a good one to learn on.
