Unknown Cat -
Datana contracta
Columbia, Boone County, Missouri, USA
August 25, 2007
Size: Inch and a half at least
Found several of these large sized caterpillars on my pin oak tree. They were huge... probably an inch to an inch and a half long... Any ideas?

I think this is a species of

.
I noticed you are also in Columbia. Are you participating in the BioBlitz September 7-8? If you haven't already seen it, you can get more information at
