Amartus tinctus

Amartus tinctus
San Leandro, Alameda County, California, USA
March 12, 2005
Size: 3mm
These beetles run around inside the California poppies in
my yard, getting covered in pollen. This one has fallen out
onto a plant under the poppy.

ID by Andrew Cline who studies these beetles. Apparently Amartus
tinctus
is now in family Kateretidae (formerly in Brachypteridae,
which is what is listed in American Beetles).
